The Leasing and Finance Calculator is a decision-support tool built into the Fleet app. It enables fleet managers and finance teams to compare the total cost of ownership versus leasing a new fleet asset over a defined period, using real cost inputs specific to your operation and fleet category.
The calculator generates a side-by-side comparison report covering the full asset term. Finance teams can adjust assumptions and run multiple scenarios before committing to a procurement decision. The output report can be exported as PDF and attached to the purchase request record for board-level approval.

How It Works in Odoo 19
Enter Buy Scenario
Input the vehicle purchase price, expected useful life in years, estimated annual maintenance cost, insurance premium, fuel budget per annum, and expected residual or trade-in value at end of useful life. The system calculates total cost of ownership.
Enter Lease Scenario
Input the lease deposit amount, monthly rental premium, contract term in months, balloon payment at contract end, and any additional lease costs such as excess kilometre charges and maintenance plan exclusions.
Run Comparison
The system calculates total cost of ownership for both scenarios over the comparison period — including depreciation, running costs, interest cost of capital for the purchase option, and all lease-specific charges. Results are displayed side-by-side.
Export Decision Report
A formatted PDF report is generated showing both scenarios side-by-side with a clear recommendation based on lowest total cost over the term. The report is automatically attached to the related fleet purchase request for board submission.
Custom erc_fleet_leasing wizard module integrated with fleet.vehicle procurement records and the Odoo report engine. Wizard runs calculations server-side and generates a QWeb PDF report attached to the source purchase request.
